Dinamo Zagreb have been confirmed as Croatian champions for the 26th time in the club’s history, securing the title before even taking to the pitch in their scheduled match on Sunday against Varaždin.
The championship was mathematically sealed following a 0-0 draw between HNK Rijeka and second-placed Hajduk Split.
The result left Hajduk 12 points behind Dinamo, with an inferior head-to-head record, meaning they can no longer catch the Zagreb side.
Dinamo now have the opportunity to complete a domestic double.
They will face Rijeka in the Croatian Cup final on 13 May, before officially lifting the league trophy at Maksimir Stadium on 23 May in their final home match against Lokomotiva.
This season marks one of Dinamo’s most dominant league campaigns in recent years.
After a period in which the Croatian top flight had become more competitive, with titles often decided in the closing rounds, Dinamo have reasserted their traditional superiority.
