Croatian endurance swimmer Dina Levačić has achieved another remarkable milestone, becoming only the second woman in history to complete a solo swim across Lake Titicaca.
The latest feat adds to an already impressive list of long-distance open water swims for the Croatian athlete, known internationally for taking on some of the world’s most demanding aquatic challenges.
Levačić completed the swim across Lake Titicaca, located on the border between Bolivia and Peru, under extremely challenging conditions.
Although the distance of the crossing is around 16 kilometres, the swim is far from straightforward. The lake sits at an altitude of 3,812 metres above sea level, making it one of the highest navigable lakes in the world. Combined with water temperatures of around 15–16°C and choppy conditions for much of the route, the challenge is significantly intensified.
Levačić began her swim on Monday at 7:00 local time from the beach in Copacabana, Bolivia, heading towards the historic Isla del Sol.
Her finish point was located just beneath the Templo del Sol, an ancient temple believed to date back to the 15th century during the Inca period.
Despite the demanding conditions, Levačić completed the crossing in an impressive 5 hours, 3 minutes and 9 seconds.
“The water temperature was around 16 degrees and combined with the altitude it made this swim a little trickier than those simple 16 kilometres,” Levačić said after finishing.
“For most of the swim the water was quite wavy. I am happy I completed it and proud that I can once again represent Croatia and that our flag will stand on this swim. Greetings from Bolivia.”

What makes the achievement even more remarkable is the timing. Just six days earlier, Levačić successfully completed another demanding swim around the island of Saint Helena in the South Atlantic Ocean.
Her latest success further strengthens her reputation as one of Croatia’s leading endurance swimmers and a prominent figure in the global open water swimming community.
