ZAGREB, May 22 (Hina) – Culture Minister Nina Obuljen Korzinek inspected Zagreb’s cathedral and the archbishop’s house together with Archbishop Josip Bozanic and was informed of the damage caused by the March 22 earthquake.

The cardinal thanked the minister for the government’s and ministry’s support so far in recording the damage and repairs, the Zagreb Archdiocese press office reported.

Cardinal Bozanic informed the minister of further plans and stressed that the full extent of the damage was still not known and that it would take some time before plans for repairs and reconstruction could be prepared.

The minister informed Cardinal Bozanic of the damage to sacral buildings that had been recorded by the ministry’s services so far.

She underscored that EU culture ministries had expressed their support and intent to assist Croatia in restoring cultural heritage.

She added that UNESCO and other international institutions had also expressed the willingness to help in that regard.
