Croats Sentenced to 18 Years Prison in Paraguay

Croatia WeekCroatian pair Domagoj Tobler (24) and Mirko Novaković (23), both from the eastern town of Osijek, have been sentenced by a court in Paraguay to 18 years jail each for trying to smuggle 1.2 kilograms of pure cocaine in their stomachs from Paraguay…

Tobler and Novaković were arrested by police in Paraguay at Asuncion airport in January 2011 just before boarding a plane headed for Europe. Police found 25 capsules of cocaine in Toblera, whilst an operation was needed to remove 37 capsules from Novaković. The families of both Tobler and Novaković reportedly will apply for the pair to be deported so they can serve their sentences in a Croatian prison.
