Croats Abroad Weekend Roundup: Modric Up, Bilic, Lovren Down

The talk of the weekend with regards to Croats abroad was the debut goal for Luka Modric in the Real Madrid colours. Modric side-footed home in injury time to give Real Madrid a 4-0 win against Zaragoza in the Spanish first division.

Meanwhile over in England, there were two Croats on display when Everton visited Fulham at Craven Cottage in London. Nikica Jelavic missed two glaring chances for Everton in the 2-2 draw. Mladen Petric came on for Fulham in the 76th minute.

In France, Lyon’s Croatian centre-back Dejan Lovren was sent off in their 5-2 win over Bastia. The pressure is continuing to pile on former Croatian coach Slaven Bilic in Russia. His Lokomotiv Moscow side, which features Vedran Corluka went down for the sixth straight time on the weekend.
