Croatia’s Shortest Man Dies

CroatiaCroatia’s shortest man Željko Biškić has died at the age of 43 in his home village of Babina Greda in the Vukovar-Syrmia County in eastern Croatia on Friday…

Babina Greda’s favourite son passed away from a cardiac arrest after not being well for the last few weeks.

“The last month he complained of pains in his chest and he was in hospital. After three days there his heart stopped beating,” his good friend told daily 24sata, adding that the village will never forger the personable Željko, who measured just 100 centimetres.

“My late parents were normal height, so were my two brothers and sister. Only I was born as a dwarf. Actually I had a bone dystrophy, which stopped my growth,” said Željko when he was last interviewed by the daily, adding that he never had a romantic interest.

“I like to look at them, to talk to them, but I have never found anyone to stay with. It seems like it is not for me,” said Željko. (pic: Glas Slavonija)
