Croatia’s Oldest Bakery to Open Franchise in Australia

Croatia’s oldest and largest bakery chain is set to open franchise outlets in Australia and Saudi Arabia in May this year, daily Jutarnji list reports…

Mlinar, which has over 190 bakeries in Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and Germany, are to open franchise stores in Australia and Saudi Arabia at the beginning of May. The bakeries, which will open in Sydney, Australia, and in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will be branded and set out exactly the same as they are in Croatia but will be run by franchise partners there.

Mlinar currently operate two franchise models, the model which the Australian and Saudi Arabia stores will operate under, and also a model which allows outlets to sell Mlinar products but not in Mlinar branded stores.

Mlinar bakery products, such as bureks and other pastries are already sold in cities across Australia, but this will be the first Mlinar bakery to open there.

Mlinar have big expansion plans. Recently they opened in Munich, Germany and at the time said that they plan to open a further 150 bakeries in Germany in the next 5 years. Mlinar manage over 190 from their base in Zagreb.
