Croatia’s national carrier Croatia Airlines celebrates 30th birthday today

ZAGREB, 7 August 2019 – Croatia’s national carrier, Croatia Airlines, celebrates the 30th anniversary of its founding today.
Croatia Airlines (CA) was founded on 7 August 1989 in Zagreb as an airline carrier and its first flights began in December that same year providing postal services. It was given its current name on 23 July 1990 and it became the country’s national carrier for passenger travel and postal services.
CA’s first commercial flight was on 5 May 1991 from Zagreb to Split and it introduced international flights on 5 April 1992 on the Zagreb – Frankfurt route.
“Since our first flight until the end of February this year our airline conducted a total of 589,500 flights and had 38.2 million passengers. Of that number, 11.4 million passengers flew on flights within the country and a little over 24 million were passengers on international flights as well as 2.8 million passengers on charter flights,” CA said.
The airline is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its existence this year with the motto “We’ve been creating memories for 30 years”.Around 40 million passengers had flown with Croatia Airlines since the first flight.
Croatia Airline’s fleet consists of 12 airplanes – 2 Airbuses type 320, 4 Airbuses type 319 and six smaller Dash 8-Q400 planes. This tourism season Croatia Airlines has regular flights to 38 destinations in 24 countries.
CA is a member of the most important airline associations such as the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Star Alliance, the largest airline association in the world.
