Croatia’s Dino Prižmić wins 2023 French Open junior title

Croatian tennis player Dino Prižmić (17) has achieved a remarkable feat by winning the 2023 French Open Junior singles title at Roland Garros on Saturday.

In the final, Prižmić triumphed over Juan Carlos Prada Angela from Bolivia, who is currently ranked ninth in the junior world rankings, with a score of 6-1, 6-4.

This victory marks a significant milestone for Prižmić, as he joins the elite company of Croatian players who have clinched junior Grand Slam titles. Prior to him, Marin Čilić’s success in Paris in 2005 was the last time a Croatian achieved such a remarkable feat.

Other Croatian players who have tasted junior Grand Slam glory include Borna Ćorić (US Open 2013) and Mili Poljičak (Wimbledon 2022).

Dino hails from the Croatian city of Split, which has been a breeding ground for tennis greatness, including the likes of Goran Ivanišević, Mario Ančić, and Mate Pavić.

In March of this year, Prižmić surpassed Jakub Menšík from the Czech Republic to become the highest-ranked 18-year-old player in the world. His rapid rise through the ranks is a testament to his immense talent and dedication to the sport.

With his triumph at the French Open and impressive rankings, Dino is undoubtedly a name to watch out for in the future of Croatian tennis.
