ZAGREB, 31 July 2026 – Croatia’s annual inflation rate slowed to 3.9% in July 2026, according to the first estimate released by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.
The latest figures show that consumer prices were, on average, 3.9% higher than in July 2025, while prices were 0.2% lower than in June 2026, marking a slight monthly decline.
Looking at the main components of the Consumer Price Index, energy recorded the strongest annual increase, rising 12.2% compared with a year earlier. Services also continued to see significant price growth, increasing 8.5%.
Meanwhile, food, beverages and tobacco prices were only 0.5% higher than a year ago, while non food industrial products excluding energy fell by 1.1% on an annual basis.
On a monthly basis, prices showed mixed movements across different sectors. The largest decline was recorded for non food industrial products excluding energy, which dropped 3.0% compared with June.
In contrast, services became 1.5% more expensive over the month, while both food, beverages and tobacco and energy recorded monthly increases of 0.4%.
The bureau also released its first estimate based on the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), which allows inflation to be compared across the European Union.
According to this measure, prices in Croatia were 3.6% higher in July 2026 than a year earlier. Compared with June 2026, the harmonised index increased by 0.6%.
The harmonised figures differ slightly from the national Consumer Price Index because they follow a common methodology used throughout the EU.
The Croatian Bureau of Statistics noted that these figures are preliminary. Final Consumer Price Index data for July 2026, based on the ECOICOP classification, will be published on 14 August 2026.
