Croatian Teen Ana Konjuh Through to US Open Quarter-Final

18-year-old Croatian tennis player Ana Konjuh has achieved the best result of her career to date by advancing through to the US Open quarter-finals…

Konjuh, who won the US Open Junior title in 2013, caused a huge upset on Monday when she beat 4th seed Agnieszka Radwanska from Poland in straight sets 6:4, 6:4 in the 4th round.

The powerful Croatian teen lost her serve only once in the match in her first service game. She hit 38 winners compared to only 9 hit by Radwanska. Konjuh becomes the first Croatian women’s player to make it through to the quarter-final at Flushing Meadows.

“It was an unbelievable match. I managed to get revenge against her for the defeat at Wimbledon. I am very happy,” Konjuh said after the match.

Konjuh will now face 10th seed Karolina Pliškova, who beat Venus Williams 4:6, 6:4, 7:6(3) in the 4th round. for a place in the semi-final.
