Croatian team taking on best European speed skaters at champs in Poland

Croatian team will compete at the 2021 European Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Gdańsk, Poland

Croatians side by side with the best European speed skaters

21 January 2021 – This weekend, from 22-24 January, the Croatian team will compete at the 2021 European Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Gdańsk, Poland. 

Representing the Croatian team will be Katarina Burić, Valentina Aščić, Ivan Martinić and Martin Kolenc in a strong competition featuring 138 skaters from 25 European countries. 

Preparations have been very difficult given the COVID crisis. As part of a joint cooperation project, part of the preparations took place national in Hasselt, Belgium, together with the national team of Belgium. We believe that after months of preparations, the team will defend our colours with dignity in the competition weekend ahead, the federation said. 

The competition is held in three individual disciplines in the 500, 1000 and 1500 m and in the women’s 3000m and men’s 5000m)relays. There are qualifying competitions on Friday from 10:00 am, and the final races on Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 am.

The 2021 European Short Track Speed Skating Championships will be broadcast live on Saturday from 13:00 to 18:30 on Arena sport 6, and all three competition days will be streamed on the official ISU (International Skating Union) YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/SkatingISU
