ZAGREB, 13 June 2025 – A new fraudulent SMS message is circulating in Croatia, falsely claiming that a parcel could not be delivered due to an incorrect address.
The message, which appears to come from Croatian Post (Hrvatska pošta), is in fact a scam designed to trick recipients into revealing sensitive financial information.
Authorities are urging the public to ignore any suspicious messages and avoid clicking on any links included in them. These scams often aim to steal money by requesting bank card details, including the CVC/CVV number.
How to Identify the Scam
The fraudulent messages typically contain several tell-tale signs:
• Suspicious web addresses – Official Croatian Post communications will only come from domains ending in posta.hr.
• Grammatical errors – Scammers often use poor language or incorrect phrasing.
• Unclear or misleading links – The message will often prompt the user to click a vague link and enter personal banking information.

Even a single suspicious element is enough to question the authenticity of the message.

Official Communication
Croatian Post reminds users that all legitimate notifications will include a tracking number, which can be verified via their tracking system at: https://posiljka.posta.hr.
Receiving a suspicious SMS around the time you’re expecting a delivery is likely a coincidence. Only the sender or recipient of a parcel – and only if they have the tracking number – can access shipment details.
This information is available only for parcels that include a tracking service.
Important Reminders
• Any payments or delivery-related transactions can only be made in person – either to the postman, at a post office, or via a parcel locker.
• Croatian Post will never request payment via SMS or ask users to provide banking details in such a way.

What to Do if You’re Targeted
If you receive a suspicious message, do not engage with it. Instead, report it, especially if you believe you’ve fallen victim to fraud. Victims are advised to contact the police immediately.
The best protection against these scams is awareness and caution. Always double-check the details, especially the website link and message tone. When in doubt, contact Croatian Post directly through official channels.
