Croatian Portal Faces £500,000 Lawsuit For Stealing Pics

A Croatian website is being sued for more than £500,000 by a group of British news agencies for allegedly using photos without paying for them, reports the UK’s Press Gazette.

The unnamed Croatian portal is reportedly one of the biggest in Croatia and a subsidiary of a large German multinational, and has been accused of breach of copyright. According to the Press Gazette, the Croatian website was in most cases taking photographs directly from the UK’s Mail Online without obtaining a licence or paying for usage.

The Croatian portal has been contacted by the group of agencies legal team to seek if an out of court settlement can be reached. If not then proceedings will start in a German court.
