Croatian Playboy Priest Jailed

CWA ‘playboy’ Croatian priest who made off with around 1 million EUR from an illegal property deal, has been sentenced to 2 years in jail by a court in the Dalmatian city of Split on Friday…

Franciscan priest Šime Nimac (35) made headlines around the world when he was accused of signing a deal to sell a plot of church land with a local firm whilst he was the parish priest of the small town of Baska Voda on the Adriatic coast . Nimac was accused then of withdrawing almost one million euros in cash from the parish account, and doing a ‘runner’ with married banker Jasmina Bilonić. Bilonić received a 21 month jail sentence.

Nimac, who was described by the church as having an “insatiable ego”, withdrew 9,817,656.92 kuna (1.3 million euros) in cash after selling church land and reportedly splashed out on a number of luxury items.
