Croatian Island Of Rab To Get Airport

A building permit for the construction of an airport on the northern Adriatic island of Rab is set to be issued in the coming months, according to a report from Croatia’s business daily Poslovni dnevnik.

The project to build the airport on Rab, which has been talked about for a number of years, is seen as a plan to attract tourists from distant markets such as Russia and Scandinavian countries.

The project to construct an airport on the island is finally starting to make progress with the announcement of an international tender for the preparation of project documentation open until 19 June. Construction of the airport will take place on the southeast side of the island above the ferry port Misnjak. Financial assistance for the project will come from the European Union’s IPA Programme.
