The Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) has launched a special promotional campaign focusing on the promotion of health tourism as one of the key segments of the Croatian tourist offer.

The campaign, which will run until 6 December, is being launched in six markets in Germany, Austria, Slovenia, the UK, Italy and Switzerland. The focus is on display and print ads, and on special online forms and social networks like Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

“Health tourism is the fastest growing segment of the tourism industry, growing annually at a rate of 15 to 20 percent, and health tourism tourists spend 20 to 30 percent more than the average guest. In this segment, Croatia has an exceptionally strong resource base and a rich tradition. It is a product that is not related to the sun and the sea and which as such strongly influences the extension of the tourist year both on the coast and on the continent. We are confident of the positive effects and results of this campaign, which will make Croatia’s health tourism offer an even stronger position on the international market,” said HTZ director Kristjan Staničić.

According to the latest research, 7 per cent of tourists visiting Croatia are motivated by health tourism reasons, whilst 7.6 per cent arrive for wellness reasons.

In the last two years, the Croatian National Tourist Board has focused on the promotion of health tourism with a view to further spreading the supply and achieving an adequate level of quality standards. The current health tourism campaign focuses on the markets identified as prospective with the competitiveness characteristics of demand features and Croatia’s offer in the health tourism segment.
