28 Janaury 2020 – The leadership of the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) has held several working meetings in the US over the past week to discuss the organisation of a football camp that would be held in the US for the first time in history.

HNS President Davor Suker, Executive Director Marijan Kustic, Chief Instructor Petar Krpan, and County Coordinator Stjepan Merkas are in the United States to arrange a football camp to be held in Los Angeles during the summer months.

Suker, Kustic, Krpan and Merkash spoke to the leading people at SC Croat San Pedro football club, including President Milo Gotovac and his associates Stanko Bilaver, Josip Simac, Petar Novakovic and Miro Bilaver, and were convinced of the huge interest that exists among a large number of Croats living in California, as well as the rest of the United States, for this kind of activity that would allow HNS to gather and test in one place the greatest Croatian talents in the United States that would be potential players for the Croatian national youth teams, HNS said.

The HNS delegation also met with Croatian Consul in Los Angeles, Damir Tomko, who expressed his enthusiasm and support for the proposal.

“Organising a camp like this would be a major step forward for the HNS because we have not yet acted in this way in the US, where a large number of Croats live and there is a lot of interest in cooperating with the HNS. HNS has always taken care of Croats in the Diaspora within its means, as we understand that in this ‘pool’ we have found many important players in the history of the Croatian national team, and the US has great unexplored potential in this regard. During our two visits to the US, we became convinced of our people’s love for the national team and football, and in this way we want to further deepen and strengthen this connection,” Suker said.
