Croatian Fight Legends Face Off In Ring

Two of Croatia’s most acclaimed fighters – K1- kickboxer Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and former legendary boxer who fought Lennox Lewis in a heavyweight title fight, Zeljko Mavrovic, have jumped in the ring together.

On Friday the pair trained against each other in the ring. Mavrovic is currently on the way to making a remarkable comeback to boxing at the age of 43, and has been hard in training since late last year. Filipovic on the other hand is in training for the K-1 World Grand Prix final to be held for the first time in Croatia in March.

“After his fight with Lennox Lewis he retired for 14 years. I started watching him train like a fanatic at core-gym. Tonight he came to spar against me. Unfortunately we could only spar for three rounds as Zeljko could not continue after my elbow accidentally cut him open,” said Filipovic after the training session.
