Croatian FA Fines Lovren and Strinić €20,000

CroatiaCroatian defenders Dejan Lovren and Ivan Strinić are both 20,000 euros lighter after the Croatian FA fined both players for an on-field dispute during Croatia’s horror 2-0 loss to Scotland.

Captain Darijo Srna had to break the pair up after Lovren kicked-off at Strinić in the 73rd minute after Scotland’s Steven Naismith pounced on Stipe Pletikosa’s penalty save. Lovren blamed Strinić for not reacting quicker and made his feelings clear to the Dnipro left-back, with the pair nearly coming to blows.

“Maybe I over-reacted. It happened in the heat of the battle. I have talked it over with Ivan and all is ok,” said Southampton’s Lovren.
The Croatian FA agreed that he over-reacted, handing out a 20,000 euro fine to both players.
