Croatian drone photo among world’s top 20 of the year

15 January 2019 – The winners of the 5th annual International Drone Photography Contest, organised by leading drone platform Dronestagram, have been recently announced with one drone photo from Croatia making it into the top 20.

The no.1 drone photo was a photo titled Hungry Hippos by Zekedrone showing a bloat of hippos hanging out together in muddy water.  

“We were 6 of us to work out the best photos. It wasn’t easy because we received several thousand of them so you have to be very organized to choose the best ones. A good drone picture must have a strong verticality and also show scenes close up, from a view that can only be taken by a drone. Then it must be artistic in its approach and style and if possible show life with humans or animals,” Eric from Dronestagram told Bored Panda. 

Second place went to a drone photo of a fishing Boat in Vietnam by Trung Pham with a photo depicting 2 dogs, 2 people and 4 shadows taken by Qliebin in third place. 

One photo from Croatia made the top 20 pics of the year. Taken by Milan, an aerial shot of the fish-shaped island Gaz in the Brijuni archipelago was no.19.
