Croatian Dairy Farmers Join Europeans In Brussels Protest

Around 40 Croatian dairy farmers set off from Varazdin last night for Brussels, where they will join their fellow European dairy farmers in a massive protest ahead of a meeting of the European Parliament at EU headquarters in the Belgium capital.

With the agriculture market up for discussion at the meeting, more than 2,000 tractors will “block” Europe to warn the European Parliament of their plight.

“Croatian dairy farmers get a price 40% less that production costs, if that continues then in the future a lot of dairy farmers will give up,” said Milan Husnjak from the Croatian Dairy Farmers Association.

Dairy farmers in the EU have similar problems as their Croatian counterparts with credit hard to come by, less incentives and tough new regulations.
