Croatian Champion Nominated for 2013 European Athlete of the Year

sandra (3)Croatia’s Olympic, European and World Discus champion Sandra Perković has been nominated for the elite 2013 European Athlete of the Year award. The European Athletic Federation (EAA) announced both the men’s and women’s candidates on Tuesday, with Facebook voting taking place until 7 September.

Perković goes up against Abeba Aregawi (1500m), Zuzana Hejnova (400m hurdles ), Jelena Isinbajeva (pole vault), Elena Lašmanova (20km race walker), Hanna Melnychenko (heptathlon), Christina Obergföll (javelin), Christine Ohuruogu (400m), Marija Savinova (800m), Christina Schwantz (shot put), Svjetlana Školina (high jump) i Valeria Straneo (marathon).

In the men’s division Bohdan Bondarenko (high jump), Pawel Fajdek (kladivo), Mo Farah (long distance), Robert Harting (discus), Robert Heffernan (50km walker), Raphael Holzdeppe (pole vault), Renaud Lavillenie (pole vault), Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad (3000m steeplechase ), Aleksandr Menkov (long jump), David Storl (shot put), Teddy Tamgho (triple jump) and Vitezslav Vesely (javelin) have been nominated.
