Croatian And Serbian Police To Unite At Borders

An agreement is set to be signed between Croatian and Serbian police to work side by side at border patrols, reports Croatian radiotelevision.

“We will have a situation that in one patrol vehicle a Croatian and Serbian police officer will be together, in their own uniforms, with their own weapons. Their duties will include preventing illegal immigration, smuggling, human trafficking, and false asylum seekers going through Croatia into EU countries,” said Serbia’s Border Police Chief Nenad Banovic.

Serbia has been a target in recent years from illegal immigrants coming from Africa and Asia, In 2012 18,000 illegal immigrants were arrested at the border.
