Croatia win European beach rugby tournament in Moldova

ZAGREB, 25 July 2021 – Croatia has won the European beach rugby tournament held in Moldova over the weekend. 

The Croatian team, led by coach Anthony Poša, has taken out the Men’s Chisinau Beach Rugby tournament which finished on Sunday. 

In the final, Croatia beat hosts Moldova 6-5 in a nail-bitting match to take out the six-nation tournament.

The Croatians started the tournament on Saturday with a 10-4 victory over Bulgaria, before losing to reigning champions Russia in their second match on opening day 7-4.

In the quarter-finals, Croatia took care of Turkey, winning 9-6 to set up a semi-final against Romania.

Croatia would come out victorious in a tense semi-final, edging Romania 5-4 to advance to the final.

Russia beat Romania to finish third.
