Croatian foreign ministry issues travel warning

ZAGREB, 1 March 2026 – Croatia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has urged Croatian citizens to exercise increased caution when travelling abroad, particularly in light of the escalating security situation in the Middle East and rapidly changing circumstances in several countries.

The ministry issued the advisory as part of ongoing monitoring of global developments, emphasising the importance of staying informed before planning or undertaking travel overseas.

Officials are encouraging citizens to consult the ministry’s official Consular Portal, where the latest travel recommendations, warnings and consular information are regularly updated.

The portal provides country-specific security advice, allowing travellers to review current safety conditions and recommendations for individual destinations.

It also enables users to identify which Croatian diplomatic or consular mission is responsible for providing assistance in a particular country, along with relevant contact details and other useful information.

Authorities stressed that conditions in certain regions can change quickly and that the ministry will continue to monitor developments closely.

Travel advice and warnings will be updated whenever necessary in line with evolving circumstances.

Croatian citizens currently abroad are also advised to follow official information and guidance issued by the authorities of the country in which they are staying.

The ministry says staying informed and checking official recommendations before travelling remains one of the most important steps citizens can take to ensure their safety while overseas.

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs also issued a notice on Facebook on Sunday to Croatian citizens currently in the United Arab Emirates advising them to stay indoors until further notice.

They are urged to keep away from windows, avoid moving in open areas, and stay clear of large gatherings. If communication networks are disrupted, citizens should remain in a safe place and wait for signals to be restored for further updates.

The Consulate General of Croatia in Dubai is closely monitoring the situation and recommends following official announcements from local authorities.

Croatian citizens can contact the consulate for assistance by phone at +971 50 905 5980 or by email at [email protected], and its office is located in Emaar Square, Building 1, 5th Floor, Office 506, Downtown Dubai.
