International seasonal train routes to Croatia announced for summer 2026

ZAGREB, 29 May 2026 – Croatian Railways Passenger Transport (HŽPP) has announced a range of international seasonal train services for summer 2026, providing rail connections between Croatia and several major destinations across Central Europe.
Among the highlights is the introduction of the international seasonal Adriatic Express, which will operate between Warsaw, Vienna, Ljubljana and Rijeka from 26 June to 28 August 2026.
The service will connect travellers from Poland’s capital with Croatia’s largest port city, passing through the Czech Republic, Austria and Slovenia en route.
Passengers travelling from Ljubljana will also be able to connect to and from Koper.
The Adriatic Express is expected to provide an additional rail travel option for international visitors heading to the Adriatic coast during the peak summer season, while also improving connectivity for Croatian travellers.
HŽPP has also confirmed the continuation of overnight train services linking Split with several destinations in Slovenia and Austria.
The night train route will operate until 26 September 2026, connecting Split with Celje, Maribor, Graz and Vienna.
The service offers passengers a direct rail option between Dalmatia and key cities in neighbouring countries and Austria.
In addition, car transport will be available on the Split–Vienna–Split route, allowing travellers to transport their vehicles while travelling by rail.
The Split to Vienna service departs from Split at 17:20 and arrives in Vienna at 09:23 the following morning.
It departs from Vienna at 19:05 and arrives in Split at 10:04 the following morning.
Departures from Split are on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 30 May to 26 September 2026 and departures from Vienna are on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays from 29 May to 25 September 2026.
Further strengthening Croatia’s international rail connections, seasonal train services between Rijeka and Budapest will run from 27 June to 30 August 2026.
