ZAGREB, 29 July 2026 (Croatia Week) – Croatia has been shortlisted for two major international travel awards organised by leading British travel publications, providing further recognition of the country’s growing appeal among travellers worldwide.

Croatia has been nominated in the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2026, one of the most respected travel awards in the UK, in the category of Most Desirable European Country.

At the same time, Croatian islands have been selected as finalists in the category of Most Desirable European Region, highlighting the continued popularity of Croatia’s island destinations among international visitors.

The awards are decided by readers and travellers from around the world, with more than 200,000 votes expected during this year’s 25th anniversary edition. Voting remains open until 27 October and you can place your vote here. The winners will be announced on 4 November during the World Travel Market in London, one of the world’s leading tourism events.

Croatia has also been shortlisted for the Food and Travel Reader Awards 2026 in the category of Destination of the Year – Short Breaks.

The awards, organised by Food and Travel Magazine, recognise destinations that combine memorable travel experiences with strong culinary appeal. Readers will select their favourites, with the winners announced at a ceremony in London on 23 November. You can place your vote for this award here.

According to Bisera Fabrio, director of the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) office in London, the nominations represent important recognition of Croatia’s position on the British tourism market.

She said Croatia continues to attract visitors with its natural landscapes, cultural heritage, safety, accessibility, hospitality and gastronomy, with travel media playing an important role in inspiring British travellers.

Founded as an independent travel publication, Wanderlust has built a strong reputation among travellers seeking authentic and responsible experiences, while Food and Travel Magazine combines travel inspiration with culinary discovery.

The latest nominations follow a series of international recognitions highlighting Croatia’s growing profile as a destination offering a combination of coastal scenery, historic cities, outdoor experiences and gastronomic traditions.
