ZAGREB, 11 January (Hina) – Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Sunday extended condolences to Indonesian President Joko Widodo over the crash of a Sriwijaya Air passenger plane in which 62 lives were lost.

Plenkovic wrote he was “extending deep condolences to the friendly Indonesian people over the tragic loss of numerous lives” on his and the government’s behalf.

“In these difficult moments, our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those killed in this tragic accident,” he added.

The Sriwijaya Air flight 182, which was a Boeing 737-500,  was on its way to  the city of Pontianak from Jakarta when it lost contact at 2:40 p.m. local time on Saturday.

The plane dropped 10,000 feet in less than a minute before disappearing from the radar just four minutes into the flight amid heavy rains.
