Croatia Owns World’s Quickest Electric Vehicle Record

Croatia is the new world record holder for the fastest-accelerating electric vehicle thanks to Rimac Automobili and their converted 1984 BMW E30.

The converted BMW nicknamed the “Green Monster”, has 600 horsepower and goes from zero to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds.The electric car can hit top speeds of around 280 km/h, making it the fastest-accelerating electric vehicle in the Category A, Group VIII, and Class 3 sections, according to FIA rules. Owner Mate Rimac put the car to the test in 2011 on piece of military asphalt in Croatia and has just this month received official recognition of the record from the FIA.

Rimac Automobili are also renowned for building “Concept One” Croatia’s first carbon fiber-bodied electric supercar. Concept One has 1,088 horsepower and goes from zero to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, the limited edition supercar is due out before of the end of the year.
