Korčula

28 January 2019 – Croatia is among the top 5 most desirable destinations among American travellers, according to a research study.

Croatia, along with Iceland, South Africa, Japan and Italy are the top five most desirable destinations in 2019 among American travellers, according to a survey from Affluent Traveller Collection (ATC).

“Studies among USTOA members indicate that Croatia, along with Iceland, Cambodia, Colombia, Vietnam, Portugal, Bhutan, Bolivia, Burma and Ethiopia are also on the list of the fastest growing destinations,” Ina Rodin, who is the director of the Croatian National Tourist Board office in New York said.

The results were revealed at the end of the prestigious New York Times Travel Show, which was held in New York from 25 – 27 January. More than 560 exhibitors, attended, including 170 representatives of national tourism organisations from all over the world and more than 30,000 potential travellers and representatives of the tourism sector. The Croatian National Tourist Board had a stand at the show.

“In the US market, Croatia is among the top five emerging destinations, which confirms the strong growth of tourist traffic from the United States over the last few years. The information we have received from all our partners points to another excellent tourist year. Namely, certain projections show a rise in US market turnover this year at a rate of between 15 to 20 percent,” Croatian Tourist Board director Kristjan Staničić said.

In 2018, over 580,000 tourists arrived in Croatia from the US, creating 1.6 million overnight stays. This was an increase of 22% from 2017.

Further growth from the US is expected in 2019 with the launch of American Airlines’ direct service between Philadelphia and Dubrovnik in June.
