The Croatian Government has approved the introduction of two new year-round state fast catamaran lines, aimed at strengthening transport connections between several Dalmatian islands and the mainland.

The decision was confirmed at a government session last week, with the new routes expected to improve accessibility for residents and support regional development across coastal Croatia.

One of the newly approved routes will operate between Postira – Pučišća – Omiš – Split.

The line is expected to provide a faster and more reliable year-round maritime connection for the eastern part of Brač Island, significantly improving daily mobility for residents, commuters, and students.

According to currently available information, the service is expected to operate on a daily basis throughout the year.

The second approved route will connect Žirje – Kaprije – Šibenik, with services operating in both directions.

This line is intended to strengthen transport links between the islands and the mainland city of Šibenik, providing improved year-round access for residents and supporting local economic activity.

The Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure stated that the goal of introducing the new year-round fast ferry lines is to enhance connectivity between the islands of Brač, Žirje and Kaprije and their respective county centres, Split and Šibenik.

Officials noted that the initiative is also expected to contribute to broader strategic, economic and tourism development across the Split-Dalmatia and Šibenik-Knin counties.

At this stage, further details including the designated operator, sailing schedules, journey durations and ticket prices have not yet been announced.

However, additional information is expected to be published in the coming period as implementation plans progress.
