Croatia unveils new adidas kit with Glagolitic script and lace

Croatia has unveiled its new official national football team home and away kits, marking the beginning of its long-term partnership with adidas and introducing a new design built around Croatian cultural heritage.

The new shirts will be worn by the Croatian men’s national team for the first time during upcoming UEFA Nations League matches.

The home shirt presents a contemporary interpretation of Croatia’s instantly recognisable red-and-white chequerboard pattern. For the first time, Glagolitic letters have been incorporated into the chequered design.

Glagolitic is the oldest known Slavic writing system and has an important place in Croatian cultural heritage. The letters run throughout the shirt’s pattern, while the word “HRVATSKA” appears in Glagolitic script on the back of the collar.

The away shirt takes inspiration from another element of Croatia’s traditional heritage, lace-making. A detailed lace-inspired motif runs across a dark blue base, providing a modern interpretation of a craft that has been passed down through generations.

The collar carries the word “HRVATSKA” in lettering inspired by traditional cross-stitch embroidery, combining another element of Croatian craftsmanship with the contemporary football design.

Hrvatski nogometni savez (HNS) president Marijan Kustić said the shirts represented more than performance and design, describing them as a combination of local pride and a global perspective.

Both kits have been developed for elite-level football and feature adidas’ latest CLIMACOOL+ technology. Stretch materials and 3D body mapping are designed to improve ventilation and breathability, helping players remain dry during high-intensity matches and in hot conditions.

Perforated panels incorporating the adidas three stripes and strategically positioned mesh zones are also designed to improve airflow and comfort.

The launch marks Croatia’s first appearance in adidas kits following the long-term partnership between the sportswear company and HNS, announced earlier this year.

Alongside the match shirts, adidas has introduced a wider Croatia collection including shorts, socks, training wear and leisurewear for supporters.
