Croatia names squad for Euro 2024 qualifiers

Croatia returns to action and will play their first match since finishing third at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Croatia faces Wales in the opening match of their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign on 25 March at Poljud stadium in Split.

Three days later, on 28 March, Croatia takes on Turkey away and today coach Zlatko Dalić named his squad for these opening two matches.

There was a return to the squad for Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Luka Ivanušec, who last played at Euro 2020, and a call-up for Benfica striker Petar Musa.

Croatia squad:

Goalkeepers: Dominik Livaković, Ivica Ivušić, Nediljko Labrović

Defenders: Domagoj Vida, Borna Barišić, Josip Juranović, Joško Gvardiol, Borna Sosa, Josip Stanišić, Martin Erlić, Josip Šutalo

Midfielders: Luka Modrić, Mateo Kovačić, Marcelo Brozović, Mario Pašalić, Nikola Vlašić, Lovro Majer, Luka Ivanušec, Luka Sučić

Strikers: Ivan Perišić, Andrej Kramarić, Bruno Petković, Mislav Oršić, Marko Livaja, Petar Musa

On-call: Ivo Grbić, Kristijan Jakić, Dion Drena Beljo, Dario Špikić

“We have no reason to change much of the team that won the bronze medal at the World Cup a few months ago, so there are 23 players from Qatar on the list. We re-named Luka Ivanušec, who is in very good form at Dinamo, and we have been wanting to see Petar Musa in the national team  environment,” said coach Dalić.

The UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying tournament will be played from March 2023 to March 2024 with Euro 2024 being held in Germany from 14 June to 14 July 2024.

Group D

Croatia
Wales
Armenia
Turkey
Latvia

25.03 – Croatia v Wales

28.03 – Turkey v Croatia

“We accept the role of favorites in this group – we have the most powerful team and a huge desire to be a participant at Euro in Germany because we know what kind of support we would have from our fans there, that championship is a dream for all of us. However, we have enough experience to know how the qualifications can be thorny and that full concentration and maximum approach is needed in every match, and that’s how we will prepare the team, with respect for every opponent,” concludes coach Dalić.
