Croatia’s Davis Cup coach Željko Krajan has announced on Tuesday a full strength team to take on USA next week…
Krajan’s line-up to take on USA in Portland in the Davis Cup quarterfinals include Croatia’s number one Marin Čilić, who had made the quarterfinals at Wimbledon which is being played currently.
The team for the clash, which will take place from 15-17 July 2016, also features young prospect Borna Ćorić, specialist top doubles player Ivan Dodig and Marin Draganja.
USA coach Jim Courier has yet to name his side but is expected to do so later today. That team is likely to be John Isner, Sam Querrey, Bob and Mike Bryan, with Jack Sock a chance to be named also.
The tie will take place at the Tualatin tennis centre in Portland which has a capacity of 6,000 people. The first match will take place at 21:00 (CET) next Friday 15 July. It will be the fourth time the two countries have met with Croatia currently leading 3-0, beating the USA in 2003 in Zagreb, 2005 in Carson and in 2009 in Poreč.
Croatia are one-time previous Davis Cup winners, whilst the USA are the most successful nation to take part winning 32 times.
