ZAGREB, June 7 (Hina) – According to StartupBlink data, Croatia took 39th place among 100 countries, moving up 11 places in a year, in the global startup ecosystem rankings.

In the 2020 rankings by the leading world platform for startup ecosystems, StartupBlink, the northern Adriatic city of Rijeka climbed up 73 places from 2019, the local government announced earlier this week.

Rijeka now ranks 461st among 1,000 cities from 100 countries, making the most considerable improvement of all Croatian cities on the list. Apart from Rijeka, Zagreb, Split, Zadar, Pula, Karlovac, and Osijek also made the list.

StartupBlink is the leading world platform for mapping and analysing startup ecosystems, that is the environment that supports the growth and development of startups. In forming the rankings, StartupBlink uses a methodology covering the existing innovation startups, co-working areas, accelerators, leaders, and support organisations.

Based on the methodology StartupBlink uses in forming the rankings, the list of organisations in the Rijeka startup ecosystem includes the Rijeka Developing Agency Porin, the Startup Incubator Rijeka, along with the Science and Technology Park Step RI of the University of Rijeka.

Considering the upcoming expansion of the business infrastructure and the system of business incubators to include the Torpedo Production Park and the Energana creative technologies and IT industry incubator, it is expected that Rijeka will continue its winning streak in the influential StartupBlink rankings of ecosystems, the City of Rijeka said in a press release.
