Croatia Leading EU in Reduced Illegal Immigration

Croatia is one of the few European Union member states that has seen a fall in the number of illegal migrants and asylum seekers to enter the country, its Minister of Internal Affairs said at a southeastern Europe border security conference yesterday…
Minister Ranko Ostojić said that there were 30% fewer illegal immigrants in Croatia 2012, while elsewhere across the EU those statistics had actually risen by around 50%. Ostojić put the significant drop down to Croatia strengthening its border police capacity, with 6.400 staff now in place controlling Croatia’s borders.
