Croatia records 5.2% inflation in May

Croatia’s consumer prices increased by 5.2% in May 2026 compared with the same month in 2025, according to a first estimate published by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (Državni zavod za statistiku (DZS)).

On a monthly basis, prices were slightly lower, falling by 0.2% compared with April 2026.

The data indicate continued inflationary pressure on an annual basis, although with a modest easing in monthly price levels.

Looking at key components of the index, the strongest annual increase was recorded in energy prices, which rose by 16.9%.

Services followed with an annual increase of 7.9%, while prices for food, beverages and tobacco rose by 2.3%.

In contrast, industrial non-energy goods recorded a slight annual decrease of 0.7%.

On a monthly basis, price trends were mixed.

Services recorded a 0.4% increase compared with April 2026, while energy prices fell by 2.0%. Industrial non-energy goods also declined slightly by 0.1%.

Food, beverages and tobacco prices remained broadly unchanged over the month.

Bulgaria, Lithuania and Greece all reported higher rates over the same period.

Final consumer price index data for May 2026 are scheduled for publication on 15 June 2026.
