Croatia Hosts World Senior Chess Championship

222 players from 43 countries, including 12 Grandmasters, 27 International Masters and 42 FIDE Masters, took part in the World Championships which ended on Sunday. Most of the participants came from Russia (32) followed by Germany (24) while there were 14 local Croatian players.

Anatoly Vaisser (France) won the men’s event, with Croatia’s Krunoslav Hulak finishing 3rd. Yelena Ankudinova (Russia) took out the women’s tournament, which had 29 players from 10 countries among them 4 GrandMasters, 5 International Masters and 5 FIDE Masters.
