Croatia and Greece strengthen cooperation in energy, trade and regional stability

Croatia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman visited the Greece on Wednesday for a working visit, where he held talks with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis.
The visit marked a return bilateral meeting between the two ministers, who confirmed the strong relations between Croatia and Greece based on mutual respect and close cooperation within the European Union and NATO.
During discussions, the ministers highlighted growing economic cooperation between the two countries, particularly in trade and investment.
They also identified further opportunities for cooperation in energy, defence, pharmaceuticals, shipbuilding, information technology, tourism, transport, and the food and wood industries.
The talks also covered a number of international issues, including European Union enlargement in the Western Balkans, the situation in the Middle East, and continued support for Ukraine.
Speaking at a panel during an energy security summit, Grlić Radman stressed the importance of strengthening energy resilience, managing migration, and maintaining stability in the Western Balkans and eastern Mediterranean region.

He said cooperation between Croatia and Greece had also been reinforced through regional initiatives and formats including MED9, the Three Seas Initiative, the Friends of the Western Balkans initiative, and the Quadrilateral cooperation framework with Romania and Bulgaria.
On the margins of the Energy Transition Summit, Grlić Radman also met Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
As part of efforts to strengthen overall bilateral relations, the Croatian foreign minister also met Vice President of the Hellenic Parliament Ioannis Plakiotakis and head of the Croatia-Greece parliamentary friendship group Emmanuel Konsolas.
The meetings focused on additional opportunities for parliamentary cooperation between Croatia and Greece.
