New fuel price limits in Croatia as diesel and LPG prices reduced again

The Croatian Government has once again intervened in fuel pricing, introducing new measures aimed at protecting consumers from rising energy costs.
At a telephone session held today, the Government adopted a new regulation setting maximum retail prices for petroleum products.
The move follows earlier reductions in excise duties on diesel fuel, with the state now also giving up part of its excise revenue to ease pressure on households and businesses.
Under the regulation, maximum retail prices are calculated based on the average base price of fossil fuels over the previous 14-day period. Margins are capped at:
• €0.1545 per litre for petrol
• €0.1045 per litre for diesel
• €0.0436 per litre for blue diesel
• €0.8737 per kilogram for LPG in cylinders
• €0.4116 per kilogram for LPG in large tanks
The regulation comes into force immediately upon publication and will apply for the next 14-day period.
Latest fuel prices
The newly set maximum prices are:
• Petrol: €1.64 per litre (no change)
• Diesel: €1.72 per litre (down €0.06)
• Blue diesel: €1.22 per litre (down €0.07)
• LPG for tanks: €1.58 per kilogram (down €0.18)
• LPG for cylinders: €2.16 per kilogram (down €0.18)
Without government intervention, fuel prices would be significantly higher. Based on market conditions and full pricing freedom, estimated prices would be:
• Petrol: €1.79 per litre
• Diesel: €1.93 per litre
• Blue diesel: €1.29 per litre
• LPG for tanks: €1.73 per kilogram
• LPG for cylinders: €2.44 per kilogram
Ongoing intervention strategy
The Government has continued to rely on short-term price caps and excise adjustments to stabilise the domestic fuel market. By revising prices every two weeks, authorities aim to balance market trends with consumer protection.
The latest measures maintain petrol prices while delivering modest reductions in diesel and LPG costs, offering some relief amid ongoing global energy uncertainty.
