ZAGREB, 10 April (Hina) – The Management Board of the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (Hanfa) has approved Zagreb-based Electrocoin to operate as a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP), in line with the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) and its implementing law, the agency reported on Thursday.
Electrocoin can now provide crypto-to-fiat exchange services, crypto-to-crypto exchange, custody of crypto assets, and asset management on behalf of clients.
It is the first company to receive Hanfa’s so-called crypto licence and will be the first to register in Hanfa’s official Registry of Companies Authorised to Provide Crypto Asset Services. Electrocoin will also become fully supervised by Hanfa in all crypto-related operations.
Before obtaining the crypto licence, Electrocoin operated in Croatia as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) under the Act on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing.
According to the law implementing MiCA, such companies must obtain a Hanfa crypto licence by 1 July 2026 to continue offering services after that date, Hanfa added.
