Croatia’s average net salary rises to €1,555 in June

Croatia’s average monthly net salary reached €1,555 in June 2026, rising 7.7% compared with the same month last year, according to the latest figures from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).

In real terms, after accounting for inflation, the average net salary was 3.1% higher year-on-year. Compared with May, the average increased by 0.2% in nominal terms and 0.6% in real terms.

The figures refer to employees in legal entities in Croatia and are reported according to the NKD 2025 classification, introduced from January this year.

Air transport records highest salaries

The air transport sector recorded the highest average net salary in June, at €2,330.

At the other end of the scale was clothing manufacturing, where the average net salary stood at €988.

The average monthly gross salary in Croatia reached €2,184, an increase of 8.8% compared with June 2025. In real terms, gross pay was up 4.1% year-on-year.

Again, air transport recorded the highest average gross salary, at €3,402, while clothing manufacturing had the lowest, at €1,316.

Median salary reaches €1,345

The median net salary, which provides an indication of what the middle earner receives, stood at €1,345 in June.

That was 1.6% higher than in May and 9.1% higher than a year earlier.

The median gross salary was €1,850, increasing 1.6% month-on-month and 9.9% year-on-year.

Croatian employees worked an average of 173 paid hours in June, 4.8% more than in May.

The highest number of paid hours, 182, was recorded in motor vehicle, trailer and semi-trailer manufacturing and water transport. The lowest, at 163 hours, was recorded in legal and accounting activities, security and investigation activities, and social work activities without accommodation.

Despite the increase in total salaries, the average hourly net wage fell 3.8% from May to €8.72, while the hourly gross wage fell 3.6% to €12.25. Compared with June 2025, however, hourly net pay was 3.2% higher and hourly gross pay 4.3% higher.

The latest figures provide a snapshot of Croatia’s wage growth, with both average and median earnings continuing to record annual increases.
