Zagreb, 1 July 2025 – Croatia’s national carrier has significantly strengthened its international flight network this summer by launching five new seasonal routes from the capital.
Passengers can now fly directly from Zagreb to Hamburg, Bucharest, Milan, Madrid and Prague, enhancing the city’s global connectivity and boosting its tourism potential.
The expansion was marked today at Zagreb Airport with a celebratory welcome for passengers arriving on the first seasonal flight from Hamburg, which landed shortly after midday aboard Croatia Airlines’ new Airbus A220-300 aircraft.
The event was attended by diplomats from Germany, Romania, Italy, Spain and the Czech Republic – countries linked to Croatia Airlines’ newly introduced routes.
Flights between Zagreb and Hamburg will operate three times a week – on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The first flight to Bucharest is scheduled for this afternoon, with services on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
From 2 July, passengers will be able to fly to Milan on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Flights to Madrid begin on 3 July and will run on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The new Prague service launches on 4 July and will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. All new routes will run throughout the summer season, ending in October 2025.
“This year’s network expansion from our home base at Zagreb Airport has been made possible by the renewal of our fleet with Airbus A220 aircraft. With the introduction of these five new seasonal routes, we are reinforcing Zagreb’s position as an attractive and accessible destination on the global travel map,” said Slaven Žabo, Chief Commercial Officer at Croatia Airlines.

“In doing so, we are also supporting Croatian tourism and the wider economy while continuing to play a key role in the development of national transport infrastructure. We are especially pleased that travellers on these new routes will be able to enjoy a top-class flying experience aboard our new A220 aircraft.”
The expansion has been warmly welcomed by Zagreb Airport and the city’s tourism board.
“We congratulate our valued partner Croatia Airlines on broadening its network, and we look forward to more shared successes in the future,” said Huseyin Bahadir Bedir, President of the Management Board at Zagreb Airport.
Martina Bienenfeld, Director of the Zagreb Tourist Board, added: “These new seasonal flights to cities such as Hamburg, Bucharest, Milan, Madrid and Prague represent a key step forward in strengthening Zagreb’s visibility as an international destination. They will stimulate tourism and make the city more accessible to travellers from across Europe and beyond.”
During the 2025 summer season, Croatia Airlines will connect Zagreb with 23 international destinations including Amsterdam, Athens (via Dubrovnik), Barcelona, Vienna, Berlin, Brussels, Bucharest, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Hamburg, London (Heathrow), Madrid, Milan, Mostar, Munich, Paris, Prague, Rome (via Split/Dubrovnik), Sarajevo, Skopje, Stockholm, Tirana and Zurich.

In total, the airline will fly to 30 international destinations and 31 European airports across 55 regular international routes.
More than 18,200 flights are scheduled in the summer timetable – a 7 percent increase compared to 2024 – with over 2.26 million seats available, up 18 percent from the previous year.
The ongoing fleet renewal – the largest project in the airline’s history – began in 2024 with the arrival of the first two Airbus A220 aircraft.
This year, three more have joined the fleet, bringing the total to five. By 2027, Croatia Airlines plans to replace its entire fleet with 15 state-of-the-art A220 aircraft, offering modern design, advanced technology and enhanced passenger comfort.
