Croatia is Europe’s fourth largest exporter of weapons to the U.S. Only Austria, Italy and Germany export more arms to America than Croatia.
In 2010 Croatia exported 239,021 pistols to the U.S, 98% of Croatia’s entire arms production. Almost all exported weapons were made by the company HS Produkt from Karlovac. The company, which produces arms for the Croatian army, is best known for design and production of the HS200 anD XDm, a semi-automatic pistol sold in the US market as the Springfield Armory XD.
The National Shooting Sports Foundation estimates that the size of the private handgun market in the U.S, which is the largest in the world, totals around 3 billion euros annually, reported Deutsche Welle.
