PokerStars, which is the largest online poker cardroom in the world with nearly 50 million registered players, have signed a sponsorship deal with Matej Marinovic from Osijek. The financial details of the contract have been kept secret, but Marinovic revealed to Croatian website Tportal that in his 10 year online poker career, he has earnt more than one million USD.

Marinovic will head to San Remo, where he will play his first tournament as a PokerStars sponsored player. The former law student says that he currently spends around 8-9 hours a day playing poker. “Over time, I noticed that I understood the game very well and understood the personality of the opponent – in just a few hours I can read what they are like. With experience came success, and I left my final year of university as I could see I could make a living out of my hobby,” said Marinovic.
