5 April 2019 – Hotel Omorika and Hotel Ad Turres in Crikvenica on Croatia’s northern coast are undergoing major refurbishments ahead of the 2019 tourist season, the management company announced.

Works are nearly complete with all 115 rooms at Hotel Omorika, which is located about 2 km from the centre of Crikvenica, being refurbished.

The hotel was built in 1973 and got its name from a protected endemic tree “Omorika” that was discovered by botanist Dr. Josip Pančić, who was born is this area, in Bribir. The tree was discovered in 1855 and is considered a living fossil as it dates back to the Tertiary period. A statue to honour botanist Pančić was placed in front of the hotel.
