In the ‘you couldn’t make it up’ files a story out of Cakovec in northern Croatia.
When police arrived at a Cakovec cafe in the early hours of Monday to investigate a break-in, they witnessed a man trying to escape with cigarettes and money. After pursing the robber the police officers got a surprise when they apprehended the man to find out that he was in fact one of their colleagues. The 42-year-old cop from the Cakovec police station was caught red-handed with a few hundred kunas in cash and cigarettes. The station’s superintendent Krunoslav Gosaric immediately suspended the officer, who now faces court charges, from duty, reported daily Jutarnji list.
