With the aim of preserving and encouraging cultural, scientific, economic, sports and other co-operation between Croatians abroad and Croatia, the Central State Office for Croats Abroad has published a public competition for the first time for projects from Croatian communities all over the world.

Applications for financial support for projects in nations where there are organised Croatian communities, which is a total of 29 countries, are now open.

Pursuant to the Law on Relations of the Republic of Croatia with Croatians abroad, the Central State Office for Croats Abroad has since 2012 implemented programmes of support for Croatian communities in abroad. Given that funds so far have been allocated through public competitions for the least developed countries, with the aim of improving and expanding the existing programme, this is the first competition open to all nations in the world where organised Croatian communities operate.

Who can apply?

Croatian community organisations abroad, including associations, foundations, institutions and other organisations which are legally registered in the country they are in and promote the beliefs and objectives that are not in contravention of the Constitution and the laws of Croatia.

Projects and programmes which preserve and encourage cultural, scientific, economic, sports and other co-operation between Croatians abroad and Croatia. A total of 2.4 million kuna will be awarded with 5,000 kuna the minimum amount a project or programme can apply for and 80,000 kuna the maximum.

One organisation can apply for a maximum of two projects/programmes for grants.

Documentation will have to be submitted either by registered mail, electronic mail or personally delivered to the address of the Croatian embassies in the country where the application is made.

How to apply

Applications close on 12 December 2018.

More details about the competition can be found in Croatian on the Central State Office for Croats Abroad website or you can email: [email protected]
