Business changes can now be filed online in Croatia

ZAGREB, 16 June 2025 (Hina) – Croatia’s Ministry of Justice and Digital Transformation has launched a revamped website for the national Court Register, introducing a range of new electronic services aimed at reducing bureaucracy, saving time and money, and streamlining processes for entrepreneurs.

At a press conference on Monday, Minister of Justice Damir Habijan presented the upgraded platform, which enables businesses to carry out various administrative tasks entirely online – without needing to visit a court or notary in person.

“There’s no longer a need for notaries or business owners to physically go to court. Everything can be done from the comfort of their office,” Habijan stated. “This will reduce the workload on courts, save time for court staff, and ultimately allow them to focus on essential matters, such as litigation.”

Easier Changes, Lower Fees

The new platform, which officially went live over the weekend, allows entrepreneurs to update key company details directly via eServices – such as changes to a company’s registered address, email, personal information of board members, and records of additional capital payments.

Importantly, electronic submissions come at a reduced cost, with users paying just 50% of the standard court fee.

Direct Integration with Notaries

Another significant development is the integration of the e-Notar system – used by the Croatian Chamber of Notaries – with the court register. This allows notaries to submit applications for changes that still require their involvement (such as changes to company names, directors, or capital) without needing to visit the court. Decisions will now be issued electronically by the court.

“This represents a major step forward for commercial courts and the business community alike,” said Habijan.

Pilot Project Already Underway

The new way of working has already been piloted since 1 April at the Commercial Court in Varaždin. It is set to expand to the Commercial Court in Osijek from 1 July, with further rollout across the country expected in due course.

A Modern, More Useful Platform

The previous website – in use for over 20 years – allowed only for the viewing of registered entities and public notices. In 2024, the Court Register contained data on 182,199 business entities, with over 1.6 million extract views and more than 3,400 published notices.

The new version features a modernised interface, direct links to EU services, and the ability to handle filings without involving a notary in many cases.

Continued Focus on Digital Transformation

Minister Habijan reaffirmed that digitalisation remains a key priority for his Ministry, announcing further upgrades to come – including the development of a digital archive of documents, improvements to the user inbox on the e-Citizens platform, and the introduction of a mobile app.
